Biography
EDDIE ROSE served on the Laguna Niguel City Council from 1994 to 1998. Eddie has been a resident of Laguna Niguel since 1978. He was active in the fight to achieve cityhood for Laguna Niguel, and was chiefly responsible for bringing the annual Menorah Lighting ceremony in commemoration of Chanukah to Laguna Niguel, first held in 1994. Eddie was the Reform Party candidate for Congress in the 48th Congressional District in the year 2000, and candidate for the Orange County Board of Supervisors in 2006.
EDDIE ROSE was one of the earliest supporters of the late Howard Jarvis and Proposition 13, which has saved California homeowners an estimated $350 billion to date. He is a staunch taxpayers' rights, homeowners' rights, seniors' rights, victims' rights, and consumers' rights advocate.
EDDIE ROSE is a strong supporter of campaign finance reform, and has led the fight to expose government waste and political corruption in Orange County. Following the Orange County bankruptcy debacle, Eddie joined with numerous concerned citizens to help defeat the ill-advised 1/2 cent sales tax proposal (Measure R), as well as the equally ill-advised proposed County Charter (Measure T), In 1996, Eddie wrote the ballot argument in support of term limits, a county-wide measure which passed overwhelmingly. Eddie was also an early and active supporter of state-wide Propositions 187 (to deny welfare benefits to illegal aliens) and 209 (to eliminate reverse discrimination and racial quotas), both of which passed with large majorities.
EDDIE ROSE is a strong believer in the need for preservation of open space, natural habitats, and wetlands. Eddie has worked with various groups and individuals throughout Orange County to stop the commercial airport at El Toro, and to stop the proposed extension of the Foothill-South toll road. Eddie has been and remains firmly committed to halt the proliferation of urban sprawl in south Orange County.
EDDIE ROSE is a registered Professional Quality Engineer (PQE) in the State of California, and holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering Administration from Pepperdine University. Eddie has been a member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) for more than 40 years, and served in the aerospace industry as a Quality and Reliability Engineer/Manager for McDonnell Douglas, Hughes Aircraft, and Ford Aerospace/Loral. He also holds a teaching credential in the California Community Colleges system.
EDDIE ROSE is also recognized as one of the outstanding bridge players in the United States. He holds the rank of Platinum Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL). Eddie was the leading money winner on both the 2001 and 2005 Bridge Pro Tour, and is currently listed in the Encyclopedia of Bridge, under "Leading Bridge Personalities". Eddie also recently authored the sensational new bridge book, "BRIDGE-From A to Z; Taking Your Game to the Next Level".
